Four Years Down!
Sew Minimal officially became a business on August 1, 2019. I wasn’t sure if it was possible, but I wanted to try to support myself using my creative talent for upcycling. And here we are, four years later and still going strong!
Today as I reflect back on the last four years, the main thing that sticks out is all the kindness and support I received, specifically in my local Albuquerque community. Vendors, artists, customers, and business owners extended such generosity that I did not anticipate. Not only with their dollars, but with encouraging words, advice, and an ear for venting. I cannot imagine trying to start this business anywhere else. Thank you Albuquerque, for allowing Sew Minimal to thrive!
And a lifetime to go
Reflecting on the generosity and kindness of my Albuquerque community makes this next phase of Sew Minimal feel bittersweet! Bitter, because I love Albuquerque and will miss so much about it. Sweet, because I also am excited about the future.
So now for the big announcement! At the end of this month, I will be moving out of Albuquerque and relocating to Carlsbad, NM. I will be closing my brick & mortar and refocusing my time and energy on building Sew Minimal’s online business. While I will miss Albuquerque and all the opportunities it has afforded me, I’m looking forward to resetting and refocusing my energy for this new phase!
This is a huge change, but I guarantee me and my sewing machine will be churning out upcycled pieces for many many many more years to come! Thank you, thank you, thank you for making Sew Minimal what it is. Here’s to many more years of upcycling and spreading joy through fashion!
Kelly,
I wish you the very best. Your work is beautiful, hoping it grows as you wish. Hope to see you in the shop before you go.
Nanette
Thanks so much Nanette! I appreciate your support and encouragement over the last few years!
